Tattoos

April 17, 2016

This is a very touchy subject for people and I guess I am starting to see why. My mum for example really does not like tattoos. She feels that people don’t think about how they will look when they are old and wrinkly but personally I love them.  I agree that yes when you get older a tattoo may not look very nice or be all wrinkled up but also tattoos can mean very special memories for most.  I also agree that some people jump into a tattoo too quickly and get things that mean nothing but again it’s a choice.

My dad when he was around 40 years old got his ex wife’s names tattood across his arm in Russian and now 10 years later has had to have it covered up by a big tiger.  Due to this I decided that I would never ever get my partners name tattood on me.  I would rather have a quote me and my partner shared or a symbol so that if we were to divorce or separate then I can change the meaning to be for someone or something else.  That is just me though as I know there is lots of people with their partners names and everything has gone well for them.

What I want

I’m not in any way the type of person to be covered in them – I simply wouldn’t suit it. For years now I’ve been looking into different tattoos and there are two that I want so bad but finding the courage to do it is the main problem.

The first one is a quote – “without struggle, there is no success”. This quote is very personal to me as I have struggled through a lot in my life but I’m continuing to get better and I want this tattoo to be a reminder that I am succeeding simply by still being here and pushing on with my life. I would want this tattoo quite high up on my thigh so that it really is just for me and not for anyone else to look at unless I wanted them to.
This tattoo reiterates my thoughts on tattoos being personal and meaning something.  I wouldn’t get a quote if it didn’t have a meaning.

The next tattoo that I have wanted for about a year now is a cat. It isn’t a very good image but I love it! I had three cats when I was younger, two of which were in my life from the moment I was born as they were older than me. When they had to be put down a few years ago it devastated me. I’d never experienced a life without my beautiful cats. If you haven’t had a pet you will never understand the love and care that you have for a pet – they become your family and it’s heartbreaking to see them go. For months after I would still walk into the house and expect them to run to my feet. Anyway! I want the tattoo to represent my three cats; Cashew, Pecan and Peanut because they were a big part of my life and always will be.   I’m not sure where I would want this tattoo, maybe quite small on the side of my wrist or on my hip.  I once had a thought of it behind behind my ear but I would never get to see if for myself!

The risks

As with everything you must think about the risks that come with getting tattoos.  The first risk is that artist making a mistake.  Imagine that! Looking down at your finished tattoo to see a spelling mistake… I think I would cry! It happens all too often and this is why you need to make sure you know exactly what you want.  The second risk is infections.  This is a scary one.  It is so important that you do your research on a parlour before you get your tattoo done to make sure that they are reputable and find out their policies on these things.  Do not go somewhere just because it is cheaper than the rest – that is not how life works! The final risk of getting a tattoo is growing to hate it.  Laser removal is painful! I’ve heard that it is more painful that getting the tattoo itself!  Make sure that you get a tattoo for the right reasons and think so carefully about it!  As you grow up your thoughts, views and loves change so do not be hasty!

Bit of a random post this evening but I thought it would give a little more of an insight to me – what I am like and how I think.  Do you want any tattoos? Comment below I would love to know!

I’ve always wanted roses, either two on my thigh or one on my forearm but I don’t think I’d ever actually go and get it done x

That cat tattoo is so cute. I had my first tattoo when I was 15 :O it was a little music note on my chest I loved it at the time but I hate it now :(. The place was a bit of a dive tbh and they shouldn’t have let me have it ( my mum went MENTAL). I agree with your advice I really didn’t think my first tattoo through and I do regret it now I’m in my twenties. x

The only thing is it’s not so much the tattoo but it’s where it is 🙁 I would like to get it removed one day ,I’m not bothered about the pain but do you think it would leave a really ugly scar? x

Yeah I guess the chest is a though one. I don’t know that much about tattoo removals but if it’s small I don’t think it would especially if it’s only black x
