MUA Review

June 29, 2016

Evening pretties!

So since I bought so much products from Make Up Academy in my haul I decided to do a brand review.

MUA are such a cheap, affordable brand and I highly recommend it to those of you who are just starting out in make up or need to stick to a beauty budget! They have products starting from £1 and as far as I am aware they are exclusive to Superdrug stores.

Lets start off with Lipsticks!

So if you read my Beauty Haul post then you will possibly remember me speaking about the lipsticks that I purchased.  I’ll go into more detail about the lipsticks in this post and there is swatches on my lips too.

So the first lipstick is MUA Luxe Metallic Liquid Lipstick – Luster – £4.  This lipstick is so freaking cool! Like I said in my other post I would class this more as a lipstick as it doesn’t really set, it stays quite sticky in consistency.  It’s an odd silvery gold colour but I love it none the less.  My only issue with this one is that 1) I have no idea how to wear it and 2) It is so patchy! It is incredibly difficult to make it look the same all over the lips.  Will definitely be great for Halloween I’m sure though.

Next metallic lipstick is  MUA Luxe Metallic Liquid Lipstick – Glint – £4.    Glint is more of a brown toned metallic with gold glitters.  The lighting in this photo doesn’t show how shiny it is but it’s the same as Luster.  I feel that Glint is a much more wearable colour and it doesn’t have a patchy finish like Luster does.  Big thumbs up for this colour and I can’t wait to wear it out!

Back to earth with matte shades now! MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer – Unity – £3.  Unity is a very grey toned purple/lilac colour and I am truly in love with it. Unfortuntely I really do not suit this colour and it has a really bad habit of sinking into all the cracks and going patchy.  I put Benefit – Sugarbomb Lipgloss over the top of it which looked really nice so I’ll be wearing it that way from now on!  I think this would look better on paler skin as it seems to wash me out a lot.

MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer – Dash – £3.  I am completely head over heels for this lipstick.  It’s a pretty red/mauve kind of colour which I think is great to chuck on everyday for any occasion!  This colour sits really nicely on the lips without going sticky.  It also drys really quickly so you don’t need to worry about it smudging everywhere.

Something I need to add about the Velvet Lip Lacquers is that they have a really strong scent to them.  I can’t quite work out what it is but it is like a blackcurrant or some sort of berry scent.  If you can’t deal with fragrance lip products then stay clear of these!

Next up is a highlight! This is MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder – Opalescent Amber – £3.  I cannot believe how good this highlight is.  It is so pretty!  The pigment isn’t the best but it builds up really nicely.  The powder itself is very soft and creamy and I tend to just use my finger to place is on my face and then use a brush to blend it out slightly.  Definitely going back for the other powders.

The final product I bought was an eyeshadow.  MUA Pearl Mono Eyeshadow – Onyx – £1.  I am so so SO impressed with this eyeshadow.  It’s so creamy and pigmented and all for £1!! I need more of these big time.  You honestly do not need a lot of this product for a great, strong eyeshadow look.  It also lasts for hours too.  I often wear this for a night out if I want a dramatic silver eye and get so many compliments especially when I put a silver eye primer underneath.

I really haven’t tried many products from MUA yet however after trying out this bunch I will definitely be going back for more and I think I want to do a ‘budget make up’ post using all MUA so stay tuned for that!

If you haven’t tried this brand yet then I highly suggest that you do because you can buy so much without breaking the bank and you will be getting genuinely good products!
