The Body Shop Blogger Event vol.2

May 27, 2017

Hello everyone! Welcome back!

You may remember around Christmas time I attended a blogger meet up at The Body Shop.  On the 24th of May I attended The Body Shops second event and it was great! I’m going to speak about the event and also the products that I purchased so grab a cuppa and get comfy, it could be a long one!

The event started of with the employees introducing themselves and then also their new range of products.  They have recently released 2 new scents; Pina Colada and Mojito. Like me, you may be wondering what on earth does a mojito smell like other than mint and alcohol? Well, I still cannot completely answer that! It smells of neither yet exactly like a mojito – it’s the weirdest thing! – I highly suggest you go just to smell it! They are the perfect scents of summer and will put you in a great mood!  However, these are not the reason that we were invited.  The Body Shop staff wanted to introduce their new Drops of youth products with a slogan of “Join the Anti-Pollution Revolution”.

The collection consists of 8 different products all in green packaging to make it noticeable. The products aim to beat the signs of distress on your skin that is caused by pollution. Did you know that polluted air actually causes dullness?? Who would have thought! The product they spoke about the most was the Drops of Youth Liquid Peel.  The liquid is rubbed onto the skin and helps to peel away any dead skin cells and toxins leaving you with beautifully smooth skin.  We actually tried a bit of this on the back of our hands and oh wow it really works! It’s both fascinating and disgusting watching the dead skin ball up on your hand but it immediately has made my hand so smooth and lovely to touch!

Although their main focus was on the Drops of Youth range they also wanted to promote their Honey Bronze range.  We all love a sun-kissed glow but we often forget how harmful the sun can be to our skin and The Body Shop have introduced a range that allows you to “fake it till you make it” without damaging your skin! The main product they were promoting was the Honey Bronze Face Gel. A face gel that acts almost like a BB Cream to give you that little bit of colour without the sun beds.  They also have body creams, leg mist, pressed bronzers, highlighters and more within this range.

Once the speeches were over we were given a basket and a wee bag of goodies and were given time to have a look around the shop.  As you walked around there was snacks and drinks to help yourself to which is always a bonus!  The staff were very helpful and were happy to sit and speak to you about your skin type to ensure you took home the perfect products that are going to help you most.  They were also doing free hand massages which were lush.

Now into the goodies!

As I mentioned on arrival we were given a basket that contained a bag of freebies. Everyone received a full size Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel which smells absolutely incredible! Once you had given your name you got to chose a mini body scrub.  The options were Shea, Coconut and Mango and since its coming up to summer I of course went for the mango; again this smells amazing and I personally do not find it too abrasive.

On to the things I bought myself!

I’ve been looking at review after review of the super food face masks and decided that today was the day to buy a couple. They retail for £16 each which is kind of pricey but they are 75ml and I’m thinking that they will last a while. The first one I picked up was the British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask.  This mask was situated in the vitamin E range so it was an obvious choice for my dehydrated skin.  The mask claims to moisturise, soothe and tone the skin. The second mask I purchased was the Chinese Ginseng and Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask.  This is a creamy exfoliating mask but isn’t too abrasive on the skin – depending on how sensitive your skin is of course – it also has an odd smell that is neither pleasant nor unpleasant.  It claims to illuminate, even and revitalise the skin and who doesn’t want that? Since I bought 2 of the super food masks I was given a free Facial Mask Brush that retails for £8. I will do a full review on both of these masks once I’ve given them a fair testing!

Next I picked up the Lip Scuff. Is there anything worse that trying to wear liquid lipsticks when your lips are cracked and peeling? Well hopefully this is the answer! I wear matte and liquid lipsticks almost every single day and it has definitely taken its toll on my lips which is why I thought this would be perfect to get my lips pout worthy again.  It comes in a standard lipstick bullet and retails for £8.  While removing the dead skin from your lips it also helps moisturise.

The final item I bought for myself was of course the Drops of Youth Liquid Peel.  After seeing the results on the tiny patch of my hand I just HAD to see what it was going to do to my face! It retails for £18 for a 145ml bottle which seems pretty steep but from what I witnessed at the event I don’t think you actually need a lot to get the desired effect. Again, I’ll do a full review on this product once I’ve fully tested it out.

The last thing I bought was for my boyfriend. I got him the Maca Root Deodorant Spray. Honestly, I’ve never seen a deodorant in a spray bottle before and I’m intrigued as to how easy it is to use without spraying it in your eyes! It’s a very musky yet fresh manly scent and my boyfriend really likes it.  He’s planning on using it for work as working in a fast food environment obviously doesn’t leave you smelling too pretty but as a manager and dealing with customers you needs to have something that will stick and somewhat mask the burger scent and this one seems strong enough to do the trick.

So there we have it my second experience at a Body Shop Event! If you are ever able to attend anything like this I highly suggest it as everyone is so polite and willing to help and I promise you’ll find at least one product that will become your holy grail!

Until we meet again,
