Life Update | Where Have I Been?

IMG_20180919_104432_575.jpgDare I say it?? Life is finally calming down!

I’ve been pretty inactive since May particularly on the blog side of things! As you may know I graduated from RGU in summer with an Honours Degree in Management and I am so happy its over! With fourth year at Uni comes the dreaded dissertation/thesis project and I can tell you now it took a lot out of me!

Much like many other students I am a major procrastinator – like absolutely terrible. I can spend HOURS panning this, that and the next thing and I look super productive but in reality I am just putting off the inevitable. This meant I left 80% of my dissertation write up until the day before it was due… horrified?? It is safe to say I did a 26 hour stint in the uni library and got that s**t done! Might I add I got a B for it too 😛

I wish I had a better excuse about taking the summer off blogging like I went travelling around the world or something but honestly, I was just exhausted and enjoying my first truly free summer with no education plans. This meant I worked full time at McDonald’s over the summer while I  searched for a career path.  This was a lot harder for me than I ever realised. I truly thought by the end of uni I would know exactly what I wanted to do but truthfully – I still have no idea.

This summer I threw myself into an event called Tough Mudder! I organised this with 9 other colleagues at McDonald’s and we raised over £1000 for RMHC and I could not have been any prouder. Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile mud and obstacle course designed to drag you out of your comfort zone by testing your physical strength, stamina and mental state. It is a challenge that emphasises teamwork, camaraderie and accomplishment. Let me tell you it was not easy – maybe that’s because I did very little training! I have never felt sheer pain like I did more so the day after the event!

I also did my yearly drive down to Plymouth to see my Grandma and Grandad but this year was a little more special – my dad was there too. My dad hasn’t been in the UK for about 4 years which meant James had never met him either. To my relief, Dad and James got on extremely well which was amazing. Being away with my family was great and it gave me a lot of time to talk over my options with them too.

On Saturday 4th of August I said goodbye to my part-time employer of almost 6 years and all the incredible people that I worked with. This was a much harder thing for me to do than I thought as I quickly realised the passion and care I had for the place. I felt extremely guilty for leaving my friends but I was starting to become unhappy and it wasn’t a great environment anymore.

I was overwhelmed at how many people came to my leaving night – this wasn’t even close to being everyone!

On the 6th of August I started with a small consultancy service company as the Recruitment Coordinator/administrator. It is all very new to me still and completely different to what I am used to. It is also incredibly weird to think that all my weekends are completely free?! I am enjoying this new chapter in my life and I am hoping I will be able to balance my social medias much better now that I have more of a routine.

To tell you the truth, life just became super overwhelming and I am now starting to see things settle into place. I am a worrier and anyone who knows me will tell you that I get super stressed over small things so when I had to start deciding a career and realising I wasn’t going back into education it floored me! However, like I said things are starting to calm down and I am starting to enjoy writing, make-up and photography again so please bare with me and the back log of things that I would love to share!

I’m looking forward to what the future holds!
