VALENTINES DAY OUTFITS | COLLAB WITH KIRSTY JARVIE

February 7, 2019

A while back Kirsty asked if I was keen to create some Valentines Day content and so we decided to create two different looks that we think are perfect for the day of romance! We decided to go for a day time look that is a bit more on the casual side and a dressed up evening look too – we got you covered for every potential plan! Make sure you head over to Kirsty’s blog and see the outfits that she created.

James and I don’t often do anything on Valentines Day as previously we have both worked shifts and it’s often difficult to get the time off. James and I’s anniversary is actually on boxing day, so we roll our anniversary and valentines plans into one and go for a weekend away in January rather than having separate occasions over a busy and expensive period! – Stay tuned for a post telling you where we went this year!

As I said in my Styling Christmas Jumpers post, I am no fashionista however this year I’ve decided to take more risks and hopefully I can reflect that in this post. I also want to point out that I am a size 14 and the looks I put together are usually something I wouldn’t consider at my size but I want to throw away those fashion ‘rules’ and just enjoy dressing up again!

Look One – Day Time Casual

spotted (pun very much intended) this black and gold spot dress when my friend said she was having an 90’s themed party and I thought it was perfect for a Valentines Day look also! I opted to pair the dress with a high neck grey long sleeved top underneath and some black hi top style converse to make it a more wearable and casual look.

Normally I would throw on my trusty black Primark handbag however I saw this Monki heart shaped belt bag and thought it would be perfect and a little quirky too! I actually took the belt part off the bag as I thought it might be cuter as a wee clutch!

Look Two – Night Time Glam

My inspiration for this look was going out to an upmarket restaurant for dinner and drinks. I also figured since I’ve done a dress look already I should mix it up and go for these stunning wide leg cropped trousers from Warehouse. I really love these trousers and the fact they have the tie belt incorporated is great because you don’t have to stress about finding one that matches. I’ve always been scared of wide leg trousers because I didn’t think they would be flattering and honestly… I’m still not overly convinced that these suit my big thighs! When it came to a top, I was a little stuck but eventually found this black high neck blouse from Boohoo. I think this pairing goes really and both pieces can definitely be worn separately too.

To finish the look I chose some basic black heels from Primark – which are like £8 and the best heels I have ever bought! I have them in so many colours! I also decided to go for this beautiful grey Katie Loxton pouch/clutch to hold all my essentials.

Do you have any plans for Valentines Day? Going for dinner? drinks? or maybe a nice evening stroll? Let me know in the comments!

Don’t forget to check out Kirsty’s post too!

See ya next week!
