ALCOTRAZ | A FUN COCKTAIL EXPERIENCE IN LONDON

June 13, 2019

Ever fancied an experience in Prison?? Love a cocktail?? I have the afternoon for you! I won’t go into too much detail in case you do decide to go as I don’t want to completely spoil it! In saying that each and every experience will be totally different.

Location

Alcotraz Prison Cocktail Bar is situated in the middle of a busy street in Shoreditch – to be honest you could probably quite easily walk past it if you weren’t looking. When the shutters are down you’ll see a black and white striped shutter with barbed wire across the top. From the word go it does give you a prison vibe.

What is it?

It is somewhat self explanatory – It’s a Prison themed cocktail bar. Okay, it’s more than just a bar – it’s a full experience! You start off by getting spoken to by the warden about roughly what’s about to go down. You then get given your bright orange jumpsuit and have to smuggle in your spirits of choice!

The whole thing is kept very authentic to the famous american prison with the guards keeping up their american accents and shouting harsh words at the ‘prisoners’. They do tell you at the start that the more involved you get the better experience you shall have – this couldn’t be more true! The more banter you give back to the guards the better experience you’ll have – you might even be taken down to ‘the hole’ …

Once taken to your cell you get the pleasure of meeting the Prison Warden Papi – he runs the Prison and you are to listen to every word he says! He can get pretty up close and personal so if you’re not okay with your personal space being a little invaded this isn’t the place for you.

Through-out the experience you are given 4 random cocktails with whatever spirit you’ve brought with you. You can request specific ones if you like but we found that the surprise was much better!

My Overall Thoughts

I had a freaking good time at this experience. There is so many stories I could tell you but I honestly think that you just need to go and experience it for yourself. Whether there is just two of you or 6 of you, I can promise that you’ll have a great time.

Book yourself a place and think of a gang name and live that prison life.
