My top 5 places to eat in Aberdeen

Yo! Sushi

Ugh Yo! Sushi is an absolute dream! If I ever need a pick me up this is the place I’ll usually go with with my bestfriend Jack who is also a major Yo! Lover. My love started when a family friend started to manage one of the stores and introduced me to the world of sushi. So many people have misconceptions of Yo! And the first simply being ‘it only has sushi’ nope nope nope! Yo!Sushi also sells rice, salads, noodles, hot fish and meat and also a range of puddings. The dishes are all colour coded and each colour equates to a different cost.

My favourites are:

-Spicy Pepper Squid

•Crispy spicy pepper squid, red chilli.

-California Hand Roll

•Surumi, avocado, mayo, sesame.

-Beef Tataki

•(4 slices) Black pepper seared beef, coriander dressing.

-Matcha Roll

•Premium Japanese green tea swiss roll with fresh cream and azuki beans.

Wagamamas

Wagamama is a British-headquartered restaurant chain, serving pan-Asian food in the style of a modern Japanese ramen bar. Wagamamas is so yummy! When you make your order the food doesn’t all come out at the same time which is the only annoyance for me because I’d rather eat at the same time as my friends. They have a huge range on starters mains and puddings and I haven’t tasted anything bad yet! It is more on the expensive side but it really does depend on what you order. Both James (my boyfriend) and I love spicy food so we are always trying to taste all the spicy ones to find the best. However my absolute favourite thing about Wagas is the FREE GREEN TEA!! So amazing! My favourite dishes are:

-Chicken Surendras Curry

• a rich, hot and spicy green curry made with chicken, jalapeno peppers, onions and ginger. topped with sweet potato straws and served with steamed rice. garnished with mixed sesame seeds.

-Chicken Katsu Curry

• chicken or vegetables coated in crispy panko breadcrumbs, covered in an aromatic curry sauce served with sticky rice and a side salad.

Chiquito

Now Chiquitos at dinner time is one thing and it is nice food but what I love more is the breakfast! If someone asked me “would you rather go out for breakfast or Dinner?” I would always always always say Breakfast! For a start it’s cheaper and I also feel like it’s more of a treat than going out for dinner. Most of these restaurants all sell the same kind of thing and it can get incredibly boring however Chiquitos put their own spin on the dishes and make it much more enjoyable! The last time we went James ordered ‘Mexican Benedict – White toasted bloomer topped with two poached eggs, our chorizo, jalapeño and sweetcorn medley, hollandaise sauce and a pinch of paprika. Served with roasted cherry tomatoes on the side’. My new favourite to order is ‘Smashed Avocado and Poached Eggs – White toasted bloomer topped with our avocado, jalapeño, coriander and lime medley, two poached eggs and roasted cherry tomatoes on the side’. Would 100% recommend going some time!

Pret a manger

Pret is more of a café style place to eat I wouldn’t class it as a restaurant. They have a wide range of sandwiches, salads, sushi, hot toasties, soups, wraps and macaroni. I would definitely say it is a healthier option of a place to eat and it more for lunch or a snack. I would also definitely say it is expensive! It’s around £5.50 for macaroni and £4 for sandwiches. They also have a range of smoothies with again are quite expensive. Saying that the quality of the food and service you receive does make it worth it! I tend to grab the Macaroni with cauliflower and Kale which is amazing or a tuna, cheese and caper toastie which is also incredibly yummy. More often than not I’ll have my own water with me but if not I’ll pick up a can of their fizzy drinks. I couldn’t even tell you the different ones they have but I do know one is cucumber and it’s so refreshing unlike a can of coke!

Shish Tandoori

My final restaurant in the top 5 is the Shish Tandoori! Like I said earlier I like a spicy food and so James and I are partial to an Indian. The Shish Tandoori is hands down the best Indian that I have ever been to! Although I like spicy foods I will ALWAYS get a Chicken Korma because the sauce is to die for!! The bill can definitely be expensive but the portions are huge and I can guarantee you won’t be going home hungry! The staff are lovely and you never wait long for your order. For the two of us to go and have two mains, rice, naan bread and two soft drinks it usually comes to £40ish which really isn’t bad for the quality of food you are getting.

So there we have it my top 5 places to eat in Aberdeen. If you ever have the chance I urge you to give them a try! I was originally going to rate them in order but I really couldn’t, they are all great places to go for completely different reasons! Leave any suggestions below and I’ll be sure to give them a go! I’m an absolute sucker for good food.
