SHAHBAAZ

“India… the land of a thousand spices, aromas and culinary traditions”

Shahbaaz was taken over by the former owners of Riksha (Riksha being a top dog for an Indian btw).  They have been working extremely hard to revamp every aspect of the menu from starters to puddings and the bar too.

For Aberdeen Restaurant Week Shahbaaz have 2 different offers; 1) 3 Course menu for £25pp and 2) Signature menu for £30pp.

FOOD @ SHAHBAAZ

When we sat down we were offered to choose our own dishes or have them chosen for us which of course my indecisive-side jumped at the chance of. Trying new things is the aim of the game at the end of the day!

We ate;
🌶 Shakjahari Platter; Onion Bhaji, Brie, Vegetable Bhaji
🌶 Murgh Platter; Chicken Pakora, Kebab, Chicken Tikka
🌶 Lamb Tak Tak Bhoona
🌶 Mumbai Mirchi Murgh
🌶 Masala Aloo
🌶 Cumin Scented Pilau Rice
🌶 Peshwari Naan
🌶 Lemon Sorbet
🌶 Pistachio Kulfi

STARTERS

The platters showcase some of the fan favourites and allowed us to try a little bit of everything which is always a good way to start. The brie really surprised me in how much I enjoyed it.  It had a beautifully crisp exterior with soft gooey cheese on the inside. I’d say the starters were perfectly portioned to ensure that you were satisfied but not too full prior to your mains.

MAINS

The Lamb Tak Tak was a solid 10/10. Stephen was apprehensive about it as he had never tried lamb before, but it was a standout dish for sure!  It boasted the perfect balance of heat and sweet. The Mirchi Murgh was a chilli chicken inspired dish which was creamy and exquisite.

SIDES & DESSERTS

Saag Aloo, Pilau Rice and Peshwari Naan are the perfect accomplices to any Indian meal. The naan arrived topped with honey which adds a beautiful hint of sweetness when lapping up your curry.

I gravitated towards the Pistachio Kulfi which was very rich and creamy. A non nut option for Stephen was the Lemon Sorbet served in a frozen lemon – super refreshing!

Overall … Chef’s Kiss Perfection! 👌🏻Between the friendly service, laid back atmosphere and the heavenly food, there is just absolutely no reason for you not to visit.
