The year about me… and I mean it!
No, this is not one of those “New Year, New Me” type of posts because I’m still going to be the girl that sleeps in everyday, is always late to events and never wants to eat the food she has meal prepped… it’s just in my blood. I am however on a journey of change. To set goals, set boundaries and aim to feel like the absolute best version of myself – an internal glow up you might say.
At the end of 2024, some friends and I spent an evening creating 2025 vision boards and creating goals that we want to achieve over 2025. This is the first time I’ve really done this and spent real time thinking carefully about what I’m setting myself up for. Usually I’ll make “resolutions” to lose 50% of my bodyweight and then feel disheartened when that in fact did not happen. Not this year.
THE VISION BOARD

As you can see my Vision Board is split into 5 sub-categories; Self-Care & Mental Health, Travel & Adventure, Social, Health & Wellness and Growth. The idea is that within these sub-categories, I have some images that relate to how I want those aspects of my life to look and then I have created 3 goals that will help to achieve that life.
SELF-CARE & MENTAL HEALTH
My self-care & mental health is in no way at it’s worst but I know I have a lot of work to do in this area. Self-Care can mean different things to everyone so it is important that you understand what it means for you as an individual. For me, it is having boundaries, it’s being able to spend time on your own and it’s looking after your body on a physical level. I grouped this with mental health because I believe that having a strong self-care routine will work hand in hand with having a a healthy brain.
Goal 1; Skincare
Goal 2; Reading
Goal 3; Spending time with people who add to self-worth
TRAVEL & ADVENTURE
I wouldn’t class myself as neither “adventurous” or “not adventurous” but I’m also a bit of an over planner at times. As much as I am itching to get abroad and explore the globe, with the wedding being next year, it just isn’t realistic and so instead I want to explore more places closer to home. More hikes, more roadtrips, more fresh air please!
Goal 1; Spend more time outdoors
Goal 2; Book another Grand Prix
Goal 3; Take more roadtrips
SOCIAL
I can often be described as a social butterfly and whilst that can be great – often it leaves me burnt out and not wanting to see anyone for weeks. When I say social, I don’t mean that I need more plans and honestly I don’t necessarily need less either. I just simply mean, I would love to have more meaningful plans.
Goal 1; Enjoy more of the arts
Goal 2; Host dinner parties & Nights in
Goal 3; Learn to say no
GROWTH
The idea of growth for me is more focused on my career development. I mean ultimately, by achieving many of the goals I’ve set myself for 2025, I will be continually growing as a person overall. Currently, I work as a People Coordinator and really love it however I know in myself that I have so much to learn.
Goal 1; Start a People-related development course
Goal 2; Complete a time-management course
Goal 3; Practice Mindfulness
HEALTH & WELLBEING
I said at the start of this post that usually I would instantly tell myself I had to lose 50% of my bodyweight which of course is not realistic. Whilst I do have weight-loss as a target, it’s nowhere near as rigid and I’m definitely not looking for a quick fix. I actually started my fitness journey (successfully) in January 2024 when I joined Forza Fitness and for the past year, I have consistently attended two classes per week, minus holidays etc. Overall I have lost 1 stone in the year that I’ve been there, which isn’t the biggest amount but my body composition has changed enormously and I also have not missed out on any social events or sweet treats!
Goal 1; Running
Goal 2; Wedding Confident
Goal 3; Less processed foods
I whole-heartedly believe that I’ve set myself up with realistic and achievable goals for 2025 and honestly, I don’t expect to hit every single one by the end of the year but overall I feel I’m moving in the right direction! It’s taken me quite some time to accept that having the year all about me, is not selfish, it’s self-care!
Do you have any 2025 goals? Lemme know!
