In order to celebrate national vegetarian week I was very kindly sent a bunch of the products from Haribo’s new vegetarian range. Vegetarian week is generally celebrated in mid May each year and encourages people to change their lifestyle or simply adopt meat free days.
I, myself, am not vegan nor vegetarian however I do have 2-3 days per week where I try to have meat free days to do my part for the environment. I actually wrote a little bit about this in my Simple Things You Can Do To Help The Environment post so feel free to check that out after this one!
So let’s get into the sweets shall we??
Giant Strawbs Gone Mini are exactly as they sound. I actually have a fun story about Giant Strawbs – as a child I was part of the Haribo club which meant you would get mini packets of sweets that they wanted to trial before putting on the market and Giant Strawbs were one of the first sweets I got to trial. So receiving these almost feels like a full circle moment for me!
The all new Funny Mix. These sweets have all been made with real fruit juice to give them a fantastic flavour. The Ice-cream shaped sweet is a mix of pineapple and blackcurrant juice, the cola bottle has a hint of lemon juice to recreate the iconic cola with a slice of lemon and of course the strawberry has real strawberry juice. I have to say, Cola Bottles are my absolute favourite Haribo sweet and these Cola Bottles are out of this world! They are so good!
Jelly Beans – not something I even realised Haribo had to offer! They definitely remind me of the Jelly Belly ones with their bright colours and funky flavours. The flavours included are; candy floss, marshmallow, popcorn, peach & passionfruit, raspberry and blackcurrant. My favourite is definitely the marshmallow!
I was also sent Spaghetti Z!ng which is a definite classic in the range. I am a sucker for ‘fizzy’ sweets and these did not disappoint. They have a great sour strawberry taste and leave that fizzy feeling in your mouth.
The final sweets I received was the Rainbow Stripes Z!ng. Again these are bursting with sour fruity flavours. These are by far my favourite out of everything I was sent – which was a tough choice considering they are all great.
I was really keen to see how these sweets would differ to their non-vegetarian options, whether the taste or the texture was compromised in any sort of way. I was pleasantly surprised to realise that there was no compromise at all – in fact I think I genuinely prefer these! They are much more fruity tasting and I would definitely opt for these again.
I will point out these are not Vegan friendly as of yet but I think for now, these are definitely a huge step in the right direction!
Until Monday folks,

I love the Haribo vegetarian strawbs – a little too much I think!
Like you said, such a great step in the right direction.
